Still nice to go to a restaurant occasionally, the less often you go the more special it feels!

Definitely :)

I cooked for a living for years so when I do go out I try to make it a place in a style I don't have experience in, ramen or asian / indian.

Sorry, but the ability to go to post secondary is a privilege - not everyone has that opportunity. There are a lot of factors that will determine if someone can go to post secondary, it's not just about smarts.

Reality is one can be smart, try hard whatever the fuck that means, have the financial privilege to do that. But it means fuck all if one's parents and other adults deem one as not fitting the parameters that is deemed "normal".

Myself wish didn't have that financial privilege growing up to know what I know.

You don't need a degree to make a grocery list or follow a recipe.

Example of a recipe that is super cheap, super easy, and super tasty:

https://www.ricardocuisine.com/en/recipes/5684-dhal

Can substitute the cauliflower with any leftover veggie you have in the fridge.

Lentil Dhal at our local Indian restaurant: $17.95

Home-cooked: ~$2

So you pay 800% more at the restaurant, not counting any tip.

Still nice to go to a restaurant occasionally, the less often you go the more special it feels!

I like the thread direction here...😋

I like eating out. Ive thought of selling my own sandwiches to try and make a living out of that... Turns out I'd rather give them away to my friends on a beach in the summer.

You know what sangwich is good? Cucumber on white bread with mayo, salt & pepper. Mmm-mm good.

Since we’re sharing recipes, here’s my moms, our favourite for Christmas:

Hellmans Real Mayonnaise mixed with finely chopped white onions and a splash of lemon juice and pepper.

Sliced tomatoes covered in said mayo mix for 1/2 hour before eating it on warmed slices of baguette.

Sorry if my privilege is showing again.

Tomatoes have to be vine ripe fresh or it’s a deal breaker. Otherwise, S-Tier sandwich

Speaking of sandwiches, this may sound weird, & until I tried it, I thought so too. Peanut butter & dill pickle sandwich. It's actually really good.

Another good one is peanut butter & (regular yellow) mustard on a hot dog. Same thing...I thought the person who told me was crazy, but I tried it, and it's good.
