What are some of the valid purposes for owning one? 

Who determines which luxury purchase (remember we’re talking about personal vehicles here, not anything anyone actually needs) is done for a “valid” reason and why should the owner of said luxury item give a shit?

My truck is not a luxury item. I actually need it or something very similar to it to do my job. 

The only thing luxury about it is I can also use it as a recreation vehicle the two or three times a year when I actually get two days off in a row..

You're right I shouldn't give a shit when people who don't really know me tell me I should have gotten (blank) instead but it's pretty annoying and I'm an extremely flawed human.

No, sorry, the internet said you aren’t entitled to a truck. Unfortunately it’s going to be a lifetime of sucking drywall dust into your lungs and vacuuming out a Mercedes wagon before going to restaurant to eat. Regrettably all caused by too many F250s at Costco.

The future is getting brighter though for electric work vans that can also be playtime vans.

Unfortunately many of these won't be available here. They also won't have the steez of the AMG wagon unfortunately. What's a tradie to do?

Ford E-Transit is available here, I've seen several in the wild here already.

Could be a good base for a campervan conversion although the range is meh (300 km, probably less once you add a bunch of weight).

A hybrid with a small diesel motor (1L?) that has just enough output to increase range capacity to say 600km in a 12 hr driving period and the ability to fully recharge the battery in 12hrs would be awesome.

Ford already has a gas/electric version of the f150 (not the lightning) that no one seems to know about.

Nobody probably knows about it because it only comes on trucks that cost over $100k.

100K for a truck, ICE or EV, is stupid.

I mean I’d snag myself a Rivian so I can have a fancy fast pickup if I had the $$ for $100k cars but a hybrid Ford?  Paaaaaas.

Ford Maverick electric would be a rad vehicle.

Current base Ford Maverick is like $32k CAD. An electric version would hopefully be... less than $100k?🤞

Or how about an electric Toyota version of that /\ truck...🦄 Hopefully without a sunroof, electric 43 way adjustable seats, and a 92 speakers stereo.

Sounds great but it’s currently we’re not likely to get new basic vehicles. 

Manufacturers make more money selling expensive, highly optioned cars and they have plenty of buyers so they’ve been eliminating basic options for a while now.

Hahahaha....a site where people ride 10-12 grand bicycles are worked up over spending 100 on a truck.......

But those things are awesome. Driving sucks I'll take anything that improves the experience.

I don't need any of that stuff. 

Except the heated seats, and maybe cooling seats. Need the heated steering wheel too. But that's it for me. 

Of course I'd need the 360° cameras, power fold mirrors, auto headlights, automatic tail gate, onboard scale, 120v outlets, rear heated seats, oversized touch screen, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, Android auto, and 10 way adjustable driver's seat. But that's it. Just the bare bones and I'm happy.
