Hopefully the people this user rides with stop sharing information with them and give them a talking to in terms of what is public and what is not. Their philosophy on this is bullshit there are always lots that do not know about particular trails no matter how well used one thinks the secret trail is.

WTF! Do you actually own this land? No, of course not, so who appointed you as the gatekeeper of who is allowed to ride which trails on public land?

actually crown land is owned by the people...   No one said anything about who's allowed to ride them or not but just to keep them more discreet is the more common sense move. The amount of people riding in torrential rain is outstanding and just creates more work for the builders.

I never said they shouldnt be allowed to ride on those trails or that people shouldnt be able to find trails and utilize them.  Broadcasting it out on the internet for every tom dick and harry to see is what i object too; let people search them out and find them, dont point them right too it.  And Duh of course i dont own the land.  Some people need education as too why trails are not on maps, to enable this one needs to talk to those people, the people they ride with are the likely source for this as i suggested.

Broadcasting it out on the internet for every tom dick and harry to see is what i object too;

It's not 1990 anymore. Mountain biking is no longer a niche sport (at least here in the lower mainland). Technology has moved on and Social Media exists (for better or worse) and no one here is gonna turn back time.

So moaning about "other riders" poaching illegal trails seems very much like old men reminiscing about the good old days, wheras the world has moved on.

Ever wonder why there's so little traffic on this forum these days? It's probably down to the bro-only attitude (not wanting to share the goods) and lack of inclusivity. I'm just speculating, by the way.

Online mapping like TF, OSM and others have been around for a while now, the issue of non sanctioned trails showing up on these apps has increased a lot in the last little while.  Believe what you wish, but i am not moaning about people riding these trails; i feel it shows some respect to the builders and maintainers by not sharing online, same idea of walking in and out of trails that have no distinct access off of a main trail...which is common sense to many, but not all of course.

Not sure what the traffic on this site has to do with sharing trail information on the internet ???

This is F'ing ridiculous. You know that the issue isn't about riding illegal trails, but instead about actually posting them on trailforks and elsewhere. And to call out the forum for lack of inclusivity because people are worried about the broadcasting of illegal trails is completely spit-take-worthy.

Landowner - "I'll allow these 5 trails on my land built and maintained in accordance with the local trailbuilding association "

MTBers - "Oh ok, let me just add 20 braids and 10 rogue trails this year i promise nobody will get hurt on these sketchy unapproved features"

Landowner - "I'll allow zero trails on my land. No trespassing."

It really is that simple.

Nah, it's the fact that you need know "someone" (to discover illegal trails) that's symptomatic of lack of inclusivity.

(There are MANY other symptoms of lack of inclusivity in mountain biking but we aren't discussing them today.)

That's a good point about CBC. It's just had a near complete makeover (presumably with public money) and, on the face of it, it looks suitable for all weather riding so I'm not sure the previous winters seasonal closures are still justified (granted, it will be under snow soon)

Nah, you don't need to know "someone". Everyone is free to go for a hike and find them, or go searching mid-ride, that's never changed. There's NOTHING wrong with trying to prevent them from ending up on Trailforks.

Your woke virtual signaling is top notch!  How many times do we have to say the trails are NOT illegal but unsanctioned  (big difference) ?  I bet you've never spend any time in woods digging?
