Get to the trails from home

Hello there,

I recently moved near the Westview shopping mall and I'm looking for a way to get to the trails from home.

Previously, I was living near Lynn Valley Library, it was an easy connection to the trails, and a good warm-up on Mtn Hwy.

I know I can still head to the tennis court on Braemar, but I am wondering if it is possible to make to the trails with less road ; maybe mosquito creek ?

Cheers,

Thanks.

I would go to William and 29th on/off road via 25th, then up the powerline to Princess Park and the tennis courts

Realistically, Mosquito Creek isn't going to be that useful unless you're more over towards Edgemont/Highland area. If you do, an option is to use that to access the Powerline trail on the east side of Mosquito Creek and then head to Skid Road (recently had some work done and is now a good way to access the climbing trail from the Upper Lonsdale area).

Warning though, the access onto Powerlines from Prospect Road is brutal (though short). It's a little easier from Rondoval Crescent but still an overgrown push up for about 100m...

Other than that, as Heckler says or work your way through quiet neighborhood roads from Delbrook to Lonsdale/Braemar junction

I've done all of the above multiple times (but usually on my gravel bike).

The trail that goes up from the gate at the end of Prospect to the powerline is crappy just to hike up, even without pushing a bike.

Are you referring to the "Rondoval Access" trail shown on Trailforks as being an overgrown push? A friend was asking me about it just the other day, but I've never hiked or biked it.

Yes, the section of Rondoval Access that runs across the BC Hydro ROW was very over grown last time I went up there a few months ago. Basically, it's about shoulder width slot between dense brush for about 100m but below the ROW the trail is fine.

It's a lot easier to access that section of the Powerlines trail from the top of St Mary's...

I'd be going up via St. Albans in that zone, @6061. But there's really no way around a couple of awful steep bits, you're just picking the whatever evil you find slightly more palatable. And whatever is a bit more trimmed at any given time.

East on 25th till it dead ends, trail to Tempe Glenn, Tempe Knoll, left on 26th Crescent. Cut up behind Ecole Boundary and cross 29th to get on Powerline trail. Climb all on dirt from there up through Princess Park to the tennis courts.

lots of little gravel and singletrack short cuts through the suburban areas shown on Trail Forks

descending the east side of Upper Mosquito Creek is a fun way back, kind of a less steep version of a natural section of a World Cup DH (except, expect lots of walkers and dogs so not appropriate for race training)

Thank you everyone !

I tried different options, based on your suggestions, and finaly, the best option is to head to tennis court as fast as possible.

I realized it is only 20minutes ride ; I hit the bottom of climbing trail already warmed up !

Thanks,

Happy trails !
