I'm thinking both S2S and Grouse will be: bring your bike up and ride around up here.

Grouse probably riding a chair, S2S will be just pedals. Both will want people to have après up there in their amenities.

That's what I assumed as well. IIRC before S2S opened they had some content on their website about possible MTB trails. Perhaps an XCish route into the alpine?

A 30-40km pedally up/down loop in the alpine with a cool place to eat after would be awesome.

Grouse had “mountain” biking around a closed loop on the skihill a couple years ago. Wonder why it didnt catch on.

Grouse's mountain biking manager Davide Aquilani gives North Shore News reporter Maria Spitale-Leisk a guided tour of the new trails

Come on dude, at least lend her your kneepads.  Even for Mountain Hwy that rubber is making me feel squeamish.

As MTB seems to be turning into Moto (I wonder if the Tour De Farce will eventually be electric ass-ist and work it's way to being like the Isle of Man TT haha) I think there's going to be a market for atb/touring machines that are sub $3k for retro-grouch folks like myself.  And I will shake my fist and fume as I'm passed repeatedly.

If I'm reading the press release correctly, you have to pay $75 to get to Grouse. Then pay to rent a bike (or be guided). You then freewheel all the way down Mountain Highway, missing all the trails, only to turn around and ride back up again?

I have a cunning plan......why not just rent a bike at the bottom? There must be shops that rent E-bikes in NV these days?

You likely aren’t.

Ah yes! I thought I'd read about it before ages ago.

Also, they didn't freewheel all the way down, there was a sign that told them to turn back around before the 7th switchback (actual mtb trails). On my way up to ride (nothing to see here), I would often see people on ebikes, in sweat pants, sitting down on their fully retracted seat posts, bombing down the fire road above 7th, and then cruising back up. It was weird.

I think the sign that told them to turn around is still there, if I remember correctly.

Last time I rode Fromme (a few weeks back) there was a nearly continuous stream of huge dump trucks heading up and down Mtn highway, so it seems whatever it is they're working on is quite significant in scope.

Anyone know any more? I'm no park rat, but I think it's pretty awesome and long overdue that one of the local mountains built an actual bike park.

Those trucks could be related to a couple of infrastructure projects.   They're putting in a new gondola and have been working on sewage and power system upgrades.

Yeah totally, it seemed like an insane volume of dirt.

Chatting to the guy at the gate who was flagging, it's for the new gondola and sewage upgrades.
I got caught in a traffic jam on the first switchback of 4 trucks going down meeting 2 trucks going up. It's surprising the road isn't more chewed up.
