People are working harder and producing more than ever before.
Nope. Among modern nations, our productivity is near the bottom and it's not getting better anytime soon. People may be working longer hours, etc, but our economy is not doing well. Did you know that real estate is the largest sector of the Canadian economy? I don't see a healthy future for our economy unless there are some radical changes in how things are run.

aren‘t taxes quite low in canada? you‘re keeping around 70% of your wages, right?
Graduated taxation of income, so income tax ranges from about 20 to 53 percent (depends on province - this is for BC). If you earn $52K in a year, tax payable is about $10K, but you also pay another $3.5K into federal pension plan and unemployment insurance.
The one thing I don't agree on with regards to graduated income tax is that you are penalized for working more hours (i.e a second job, self employed and taking on more work, etc.).

Is this actually feasible? If it happens I'm just gonna laugh, keep working just as hard but finance a boat or some other reckless action lol just shoot it right back into circulation.
Reality is we all live with this idea or more likely delusion that if things go bad we can work harder and it will be ok. True reality is much harsher as it isn't the big thing going bad that pushes people into worse situations it is the little things that add up. Hard explain but as I approach 5 years navigating our two tier health care system I can see how easy that can destroy people and families no matter how hard one works or tries.

I disagree. Working harder and smarter has helped me gwt through some pretty shitty and stressful situations over the past few years. One topic you touched on earlier was counselling and benefits. It always amazes me how few people consider the value of a good benefit package is when choosing an employer. Mine has been worth tens of thousands to my family.
Working harder does have its drawbacks though. I got roasted a few years back by not preparing properly when i made 40 grand more than i was "supposed to" by taking on a contract job on my days off. Wont do that again..

As individuals? That's separate from our productivity as a nation, which is a more important stat. We could be highly productive individuals, but if the nation's productivity is low that drags us down.
