Weekend Warmup #175
The FIFTY - A Rarely Skied Giant of British Columbia
Cody Townsend: Deep in the backcountry of the infamous Rogers Pass in British Columbia, Canada, lies a rarely skied beast of a line, the Comstock Couloir. This three thousand foot line is guarded by a full day's walk, multiple avalanche paths and aspects, glaciers and a giant cornice that guards the top of the line like a gargoyle guarding its castle. Now throw in a year with as weird and challenging of weather as it gets and the Comstock gets even more challenging. Spanning a month of waiting, multiple weather shut downs, the kickoff line of the fourth year of The FIFTY proves to be a difficult line to check off the list for Cody Townsend.
TERRAWORK | Road to the Rampage Reed Boggs
From Marzocchi MTB: With just six months to the 2023 edition of Red Bull Rampage, Marzocchi athlete Reed Boggs found himself on the injury reserve list with a broken foot. Sidelined during crucial months for preparation and riding, we count down with Reed through recovery, physio, and back to practice - right in time for the biggest event in freeride.
Why do Motorcycles and Mountain Bikes cost the same?
From Fortnine: Ryan F9 and The D.O.D. finally settle the age old debate: why do some mountain bikes cost as much as a brand new motorcycle? Mountain bikes don’t have complicated engines full of small moving parts. Shouldn’t they cost less than motor bikes?
KIDS ARE COMING - Finley Davies
From Commencal Bikes: The youngest rider to compete in a leg of the FMB World Tour, Finley Davies shows us the importance of a supportive environment when embarking on a MTB career at an early age. At just 14 years old, the young English rider talks to us about his family and his passion for trail digging culture. From tackling big dirt lines on his ABSOLUT to launching massive jumps on his FRS through his involvement in our new team, the COMMENCAL FREERIDE PROJECT, Finley is far from done catching air and inspiring us to go big!
Tearing Up Christchurch Bike Park With George Brannigan
From UR Team: Jumps for show, corners for dough! The summer is around the corner in the southern hemisphere and George Brannigan takes the big rig to Christchurch bikepark to do some unorthodox landscaping and keep the speed building.
A "Highway" of Unexpected Encounters | Overland Travel Film
From Toyota World Runners: The main reason we took route 60, over other perhaps faster and more optimal routes can be answered quite simply. It sounded fun. We have this thirst for the unknown. Although there’s not much left if any of the planet to be pioneered, we love taking roads less travelled. There were no posts about it on iOverlander, which is uncommon. This sparked curiosity, then we referred to our maps and confirmed the route has hundreds of sharp turns, a few mountain passes and was sure to be full of surprises.
