7Mesh Glidepath Pants Reviewed
Fave shorts in a long version
I have always loved my Cam-me-down Glidepath shorts. Cam reviewed them then felt sorry for me (or found them to be too big for his svelte self) so he handed them to me. They were my go to spring/summer short. The pockets were perfectly placed and plentiful, the fabric was super light with its fast drying secret sauce, and most importantly they fit well and were comfortable. I still wear them but I purchased a new, branded version from Rocky Mountain but they are identical shorts. When I heard 7Mesh had a pants version of the Glidepath, I knew I had to try it.

The Glidepath short with Rocky logo. Same short as the 7Mesh original, with different branding.
Pants
The pants are simply a longer version of the shorts (obvious but true -Ed). Almost all of the features of the shorts are present in the pants. Tied for best features in my opinion are the pockets and the lightweight four-way stretch fabric.
I heart pockets - the front 2 stash pockets are deep so I trust my junk (er...stuff -Ed again) not to fly out, and best of all the side zip pockets are angled and keep the bulges out of the way (do we need to have a chat, Trevor?) while pedaling. The only thing different than the shorts - and the thing I miss in the pant - is the pocket inside the side zip pocket. For some reason this feature was left out for the pants. Not a big deal, it just keeps things like phones and credit cards tucked away a little tighter than in the large cargo space.
I really want stretch in my gear. These pants have four-way stretch that makes climbing and descending great because of the reduced fabric pull. The knees are reinforced and articulated so pads can be worn underneath. Lower profile pads like my Race Face Indys fit well but even my Race Face Roams with their bulbous bulk fit fine.

The RF Roams look really tight but they do not feel tight at all.

The length is perfect for my 31" inseam. I've seen them on longer lads and they seem to fit fine.
Water, ankles, care and fit
The Glidepath pants (and shorts) are made with a slightly water repellent fabric. 7Mesh say it uses a looped back yarn for fast wicking. My grandma used a quadruple loop de loop yarn on all of our red mitts that we fake smiled for when opening them on Christmas day. Real smiles for me with the 7Mesh yarn because these do offer some protection from light rain and trail splash but their best feature is how fast they dry. By the time I'm halfway through my Dumpster Beer they are already drying out.
The fit is very soft and comfortable for an outdoor piece of gear. The stretchy, lightweight fabric feels so good on that I wear these - even off the bike - any chance I get. They come with belt loops (not for me) and low profile clip locking fasteners on a nylon belt for easy adjustment. As the ride progresses the fabric loosens a bit and these clips make for quick and easy adjustments.

These were worn dirty for this shot but after washing them a few times there is still a slight tinge of dirt colour.

Easily adjusted clips for tightening and loosening the waist, whether you're on the bike or off.

I like the articulation around the knee for its minimal fabric pull from pedaling with knee pads.
The problem with these pants - and it's the only problem - is that the ankle cuffs are too tight. It takes a good tug to get my size 10 feets through the small non-elastized opening. If they designed it with more stretch and a slightly larger opening they would be perfect. I find the best way to get them off is to peel them off inside out to avoid the ankle fight. Getting them on requires good balance, or a seat, and some solid pushing and pulling. While drying out post-ride recently, Dumpster Prince and all-around great guy Kevin Calhoun recounted trying the Glidepaths on at Steed Cycles. While wrestling to get his foot through the ankle he hopped and fell crashing in the change room banging his head in the process. When the shop guy asked if everything was okay Kevin did what we all would do: he lied and said he was fine. Bike injuries don't only happen on trails.

The only problem with the Glidepath pants is that the ankle openings are too tight.

They do look good but with some elastic in the cuff and/or a slightly larger opening they would be perfect.
Woodja?
Oh yeah, I would, and I have recommended the 7Mesh Glidepath shorts and pants to many of my riding buds. I try to wear bike pants whenever I can. Unless it's too hot, too cold or too wet these are my new my go-to pants.
They retail for $200 CAD. More info at 7Mesh
So... would you?

Hi all - the pant uses different fabric than the older Glidepath short. It’s the fabric from the Farside short which is softer and has more stretch. Much less crinkly / stiff. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for chiming in with that detail! I recently picked up a pair of Glidepath pants and noted that the material was definitely different from my Glidepath shorts - it feels lighter, and "smoother". The only minor complaint I have is that I have to put on my socks before I put on the pants. When I'm wearing kneepads I'd have to put them on first as well, but I'd expect that. I can get my feet through the holes, but they aren't going more than an inch or so higher than my ankles... Not a big deal, but I've had to take them off at the front door on more than one occasion when I forgot. ;p

Thanks for the input! The overall consensus so far is that they're slightly snug - some really like it, and it's not a big problem for most, but too tight for some (poor Calhoun lol). We're likely to ease them out a bit in the future, but not make a huge change.
Spoiler alert! After being king of the hill unchanged for 7 years (which is crazy in tech apparel), Glidepath Short gets a major update this spring, which includes a switch to the same material we use in the Glidepath Pant, Farside Short, & Farside Long.

I got a pair recently too. Outstanding bit of kit. I wear them hiking with the dogs as well as riding. I figure they will be great during bug season as the fabric is light enough not to be sweltering unless it’s mid twenties.
Oh. They have one “defect”. The care label says “Dry Clean Only” which is wrong.

Dang, I was eyeing these but ordered a pair of Rapha trail pants yesterday as I couldn't find any reviews. They look sweet.

I have tried NF Berzerkers and I really like them from 10C down but too hot otherwise. I have not tried the DP3's. Some buds use the DP3's all summer and say they are fine in the heat but I overheat just thinking about wearing something that thick in the summer. Might be a whichever is in stock decision.

I tried these on at the lbs and loved the fit but the tight ankles kept me from buying them that day. It was ridiculous how hard they were to put on/off. Have you tried NF pants as a comparison? This review makes me reconsider getting them.

I was eyeing these but couldn’t find any reviews, and my experience with the Glidepath shorts has been less than perfect. I find the fabric a bit too stiff and crinkly, though I do appreciate the fast drying, so was curious how the pants would be.
Ended up buying a pair of POC Rhythm Resistance pants, hoping they deliver on fit and finish. If not, may return them to try the 7Mesh based on this review. Seems like people are really impressed by the Rapha pants too, so keen on those as another option

I know what you mean about the stiff crinkly shorts feel. I don't mind it. For some reason the pants are not like that. They are definitely smoother if that helps.

Good review. I am definitely interested in these.
Quick question: what size did you try?

Hey Trevor - a follow up on sizing. Are you typically a "medium" off the shelf, or did you size up or down on these pants? I'm a medium in most kit, but heard some people say you should size down in these, as they fit a bit big? Thanks.

Hey Chase I am usually a medium but at the higher range of most mediums as in 33 and most mediums seem to span 30-33 I have found. 7 Mesh shorts and pants seem to fit a bit big but these pants are not big just a small amount larger than most mediums. I would rather have pants a bit big than a bit small so I would recommend the mediums. Hope that helps.

One pant you might want to consider is the Scout Trail Pants from Tasco. Very nice construction, and a very forgiving ankle opening. A Med waist was just a tad tight for me, which I normally run a 33”.
