I have a giant pink cone flower tattoo right on “THAT” spot. The tattoo artist was like: I can’t do anything with this. 

I just had her fill pink all around the “one giant deep numb scar” looks sharp with that tall black sock tan too.

I find that the slow, older and “civilian” rituals are the more monistic rituals. Ease up on the booze????

I’m teaching my kids the old guy way, so hopefully their chains last longer and they can fix drainage when they come across that type of trail…explain dirt dvd’s while we watch them... Patience of a teacher, speed of a grampa, technique of Nico voulioz whomever that was…….. 

The most important take away to the aging racer turned slow, less sendy trail rider- for me at least is:

You will not take this powerful tool away from me. You (them fucks) can pry the decent spec’d, monastically maintained, responsibly paid off mountain bike from my dead, cold & arthritic hands.

I love motor biking.

I love mountain biking.

I like that they’re different. 

I get that some of my Best Buds are all in on the motorized version of the latter. But I enjoy them both so differently that they are actually completely different activities at the highest level of performance that they both can be-and that I can afford on my reasonable salary. Electric moto is gonna be a game changer for that culture. Electrified bicycling has already changed the game for non electrified cycling at every level. 

But this meat powered acoustic bicycle enthusiast is wary of wild new Tech Guinea pigging me off my purchase, and will continue to watch from The sidelines for a while more. Meanwhile, this meatjuicingacousticahredding “all mountain” 170 trail bike is friggin insane compared to what we were riding 10 years ago…….

Isn’t this just a lovely exposition of the combined perspectives of fear and projection. Thing is, mt biking was never saving the world but I sure bet it saved a few hearts, souls, and minds. But mt. Biking wasn’t tearing the rainforest down either. We live in complex system, that’s become dominated by a corporate / capitalist economic machine. That’s simple. But what isn’t simple is that working within those confines, and only working together- is gonna unhinge the cataclysm that we’ve built for ourselves as a global consumptive species group. I hope it works out. I’m teaching my kids to be engineers, and thinkers, becasue it’s gonna take a lot of brains from the next generation , to work this out . I feel guilt and pity and remorse and sadness  for all of humankind’s mistakes, but mistakes are a crucial part of all life paths …..

Really hope we don’t go out like this. 

Kinda deserve it tho. 

Maybe the next go will sort this stuff out. 

And by all means; we should be rocking out in the free world, and looking towards any and all solutions. 

It’s too bad we can’t go backwards,

But maybe it’s for the better that we need to move forwards very quickly and effectively as well. 

As a mountain biker by definition, lifestyle, and spiritual ethos: I have to tell you guys and gals that I appreciate that we can hold this space for these thoughts publicly like this. Server farms be damned!
