They have been trying to keep the local media in the loop and have been interviewed multiple times while attending hearings. Without the support of the crown, so there is not much left to do. The sentencing for the driver is scheduled for May 15 and unfortunately the crown had decided to not pursue any criminal charges. He will likely get a 2000 fine and a one year driving prohibition. Riding on the road is always a gamble, but if guys like this can get away with it, nothing will change. If you can make it to the courthouse on that day, do it.

No cbc bmx track to my knowledge has ever attacked a aba track, we are all so busy here taking care of our kids ,tracks,running indoor programs.

I will support CBC for the length of my term and maybe longer if Im lucky. You are assuming that my sole intentions are to influence CBC to switch sanctions. I spoke with you last year for over an hour and we both agreed that switching tracks would hurt the sport in the short term. You may have forgotten that conversation, but i have not.

The aba is not about to leave BC. we know that, and since aba sanctioned tracks are happy,well we should be able to work within the framework. Countless attacks on good bmx people at AGMs like the latest at ActionBMX and now on our sanctioning body..

I think your memory might be a little cloudy on the events in Surrey. I dont recall any attacks happening that night, but you can give me your version of the story as your memory seems so precise.

There is criteria to be chosen as a possible Olympian,go to the qualifying races and win . All tracks have chosen their sanctioning, the lower mainland CBC bmx tracks are happy .

CBC should represent more than just the lower mainland, they should represent all of British Colombia.

The coaching part is true.
The money for membership and a portion of race fees goes south, the rest stays with the individual track.

This is the point of concern for many and it's been argued for years. The CBC tracks are happy with their support and the BMXC tracks are happy with their support. They each think they are getting the best support…who is right? Both of course.

Getting them to work together is the hard part and the longer we go without communication, the more cemented the tracks become.

If the ABA tracks have chosen to affiliate with ABA and they feel they are not getting something that the CBC tracks are (ie coaching) why not pressure the ABA to provide that service instead of forcing CBC to switch to a new affiliation? You choose your affiliation and live with the consequences.

The ABA does not train or certify coaches. CBC does, but they have chosen not to certify coaches in BC if they race at a BMXC track. Even if they hold a CBC membership, are willing to pay for the certification and race the CBC series.

From a CBC (government sponsored entity) I can see the conflict from a optics perspective. Could you imaging the outcry from taxpayers if they found that a portion of any funding was being sent south, especially if other sporting groups are working independently in Canada. I know the funding wouldn't go directly to the US but race revenues represent offsets to government funding. I think this concern could easily be resolved by having ABA open a Canadian office with canadian employees where the cdn admin could be done.

I agree with that perception, but there are many details that are not public and I hope to bring those to light. Money for development will never be sent to the ABA, that is a given. BMXC is willing to work with CBC and find a way to solve the problem, but CBC does not want to discuss any options.

I'll try and clear up my plan of attack, if I get elected.

First is the coaching for all tracks. I don't expect CBC to fund this on their own. There are multiple ways the BMX Canada can contribute to the development and coaching of riders, we just need to sit down and find the best solution.

Second is the selection process. CBC needs to recognize the results of the BMXC Provincial series when making their choices. We can't ignore these riders because of the track they choose to race at, they deserve a chance just like everyone else.

The Dude has given the quick version of the sanction debate. It's not something that will be solved overnight. Once I get to see where BMX money is generated and spent with CBC, I will have a better idea on what course to take. Topics that never get discussed like insurance rates, UCI affiliation, distribution of funds and office labour all need to be clarified. I will work with both sides and possibly find a solution.
