Vanier park (south end of the burrard bridge) has 2 dirt pump tracks that are both kid friendly, and both NOT good in the wet. Get some.

Richmond Railway park has an asphalt pump track that's fun but full of little kids laying down and gawking parents wandering around with phone-cameras out.  The pumptrack itself is not dissimilar to IR's new asphalt one.

Just checking in here... that pump track got built by Joyride, and is super fast.  Dirt firmed up hard as a rock.

The jumps are mint.  Some guys from Kush trails (RIP) did some digging this summer so the big set is more bmx-like.  The place is busier than ever due to all organized sports being cancelled.

The City chopped down the eagles' nest tree last fall.  This year the eagles came back and built a new nest right in the middle of pump track.  Raised 2 healthy chicks.  Life is good.

Pump track is being built right now.  Joyride bike parks.  I never thought I would see the day.  The rest of the park (jumps) are mint condition* right now.  Water before and after you ride.

*well, almost.  Is it ever really finished?

Boom.  A bunch of local kids registered to speak at the meeting and the vote passed.  The plan includes a permanent eagle nesting pole out in the woods, so "the bike park might disturb the eagles, let's put a fence around it for a while" should be OFF the table in the future.  Build starts Aug 1.

Hmmm just looked at the RFP docs and I'm guessing here but I don't think it'll be like invergarry. The stated scope in the RFP was to fix the mini asphalt pump track, pave the dirt pump track, and build a new pump track. Pump tracks are great but so is variety. Hopefully alpine proposed some jump lines and whatnot for the $345k...

Yes design build.  $345k so it's gonna be good!

City of Vancouver held a public open house on the future of Vanier Park and is also running an online survey.

if you go off season "cruise america" has some killer deals on one-ways/relocates.  check their website hot deals.   Have done this before.  San Diego-Seattle and Vegas-Arizona and LAX-Arizona.
