I have an Apple Watch which isn't great for mtb really and the article's discussion on the ineffectiveness of these sorts of heart rate monitors explains the confusion I have when I'm convinced my heart must be full of lard and plaque.

There's a lot of information/misinformation floating around the web regarding different materials.  It's a bit much for my wee brain.  In lots of ways I think aluminum is a great material for full suspension bikes and hardtails and can take the old complaint of "harshness" with big grain of salt.  And at least it won't sit in a landfill for  bjillions of jyears like crapon fiber.  (I enjoyed typing that :) )

However, what about this malarkey that's out there about the fatigue life of aluminum and the suggestions that an aluminum frame, stem, rim, bar will catastrophically fail at the first g-out experienced after 7 years of steady use?

What rim width are most of ye running these days?  I finally upgraded to a boost spacing fork so need a new front wheel.  Currently running, don't laugh, 22mm internal width with DHF 2.3.  Ideally want something that works well with 2.5WT DHF or ASSGUY.  Maybe a 2.6.

Am I right in assuming the magic range is 28-35?  If between 30 and 35 internal width which would you go for?

I am not planning on spending a lot on the wheel.  Alloy rim, fairly burly but not a shit tonne heavy.  Perhaps one of the Chromag ones.

My rear will stay at 22mm for a while longer although I'll upgrade that down the road.

Maybe 35mm front and 30mm rear and cushcore in the rear?

I feel terrible for both sides in this situation but when did we become tolerant of this kind of clown?  Threatens to put Toronto cops 6-feet under and they let him walk away.  I like to think they've figured out who he is at least and they will deport him at least.  But I have my doubts because we're a bunch of fucking pussies.

The increase in tipping percentage over the years is really concerning.

Picked up food at a local chinese food place and I get the tip prompt of 15 18 or 20%.  For pick up?  So I over-ride it and put 10% which still seems high considering it's pickup.

That said, I find while "eating in" if there's a connection with the server and they add to the environment, I will tip in the 20-25% range.  Finding the server attractive adds to it, I can't help it, I'm not too woke to appreciate good looks.  But in general I'm 18%.  15% if the service is meh.

If you've got an air fork can you not just add some pressure? You are dealing with a rigid rear so the front is going to seem plush by comparison with a slightly higher spring rate anyways and ride higher?

Yes of course.  But ideally something that rides high in the travel but has some decent small bump compliance would be nice.

I think coil is the way to go with a hardtail that has more than 120-130mm travel. Air forks tend to soften in the middle of the stroke whereas a coil will offer more suport and help maintain geo.

Interesting.  Filing that in the old knowledge bank in ye olde brainerator.

My secret weapon for improving my suspension fork feel is to ride a rigid fork for a while. Then I can go back to my hardtail and that fork feels amazingly soft even with a few extra psi in it to keep it riding high. ;-)

Haha beauty.  I've been buy-curious (say what??!) about those rigid carbon forks with 500mm A-C for turning the old rootdown into more of a bikepack/atb/gravel/adventure rig at some point should I add a new hardtail or fully.  :)
