So did Santa hook you up this year?

Post any new stuff and first impressions!

Two items for me:

1 Leatt Pro 3.0 shoes, still some models on excellent sale here:

https://fortnine.ca/en/leatt-3-0-pro-flat-mtb-shoes

Only one ride but so far I am in love. Since Shimano discontinued the gr9 I have cycled through probably 5 different sets of shoes, crank bros, fizik, giro, etc with minimal success.

Good grip, not floppy but not super stiff and wooden, good fit, great lining that wicks moisture really well. Awesome.

2 Wizard works hobgob hip pack.

I recently got the specialized polartec neoshell jacket which I love but it's not very packable. I needed a hip pack with external bungee to store it. I also wanted a water bottle holder and something a little boutique/ hand made.

The actual hip belt is hard to adjust and pretty thin, but the rest of the bag's construction and layout are fantastic. It might be ok, but I can see myself possibly changing the belt webbing at some point. Otherwise total "end game" level piece.

Not bike gear but we bought ourselves a new tent in a Boxing Day sale. Our MSR Elixir 2 started to feel a little cramped for our older-and-stiffer bodies (LOL) and we only really car camp now so we bought its bigger brother Elixir 3. With some low key front/near country backpacking close by we'll keep the 2 just in case.

I hope this proves to be the happy balance of extra protection I'm looking for. The previous version didn't offer much extra protection, had no clicker fit adjustment, no MIPS and the visor wasn't adjustable. That's all fixed on this new one.

I think that version looks way better than the previous one with the "ear loops".

I have an original proframe I don't wear much because the visor sits too far into my field of vision and I subconsciously position my head/eyes to try to avoid seeing it, which gives me headaches after long descents. I'd love to try the new model with adjustable visor as it's a comfy helmet beyond the visor issues.

Hmm, the old model is on clearance at a bunch of places right now and I was thinking of picking one up. Have you thought about trimming back the visor a little bit?

My GF decided she wants to Zwift in 2024. So I got her a smart trainer. It's still in the box and we need to figure out the rest of the stuff she needs to do this. I've never had any interest so I'm learning everything from scratch. I have no plans to Zwift myself, but I'll be tech support so I still need to work out the details well enough to get her rolling.

We got a smart trainer for the winters a couple of years ago. Definitely helps keep the fitness up on the cold/dark days. Make sure you have a few fans, a table to put stuff on (we used an ironing board until we found a dedicated trainer table) and a bike that you can leave on the trainer (so you don't have to mess around with taking it on/off all the time). Zwift definitely makes it more interesting than just spinning away on a trainer with no goal in mind.

My wife surprised me with one of these. It's the perfect gift, something I'd like to try but likely wouldn't buy for myself. Probably give it a test ride tomorrow.

Ride Concepts had a sale on recently with huge discounts. By the time I found out, there was not much left. Wound up getting a pair of TGR Live wire shoes for $40. (Plus $16 for shipping)

Hah, same here! It came with a little extra TLC from the tuning shop, adapted for my weight and riding style.

I kinda like the Leatt Enduro 3.0 convertibility more. But would need to see one in the flesh first.  This Fox lid and the Leatt look like good lite Trials lids as well.

Got a few sets of WA1 rims and Onyx hubs

Her commuter bike lasted on the trainer a week. We picked a cheap old road bike off FB Marketplace as her Zwift rig. It can stay on their permanently. It also has vertical dropouts which work better in the trainer than her commuter's horizontal dropouts. The bike is a bit ugly looking so if it's a keeper I'll give it a spray bomb makeover when I am doing some maintenance in the summer.

She's enjoying Zwift so far.
