I think he could give Claudio a run for his money with the on-the-bike commentary.
You've probably helped more people than you realize with this article, Matt. Thanks for sharing.
That was very flowy.
That was very pleasant to watch.
Perry, you have a captivating prose style that's a joy to read. i.e) "...returning to full height with ferocious undamped genital smashing speed..." Well done.
That was great. Gotta go back and look at that early Tippie head cam footage with the rock counter weight.
Did he just throw his jacket away?
Nice. Hoping they'd hit the lower half, too.

Hi, could anyone comment on the best trails to ride right now, or if any should be avoided until they dry out, etc? All comments appreciated. Tnx
To hike do you just push up the same trail or is there a different climbing trail? Nortonwhis, how long did the up part take?
Is the only way up there by heli?
Sproat is an old English name pronounced like "sprout". Maybe Sproatt is a variation of that name?

stoked to hear you had a nice time, I've been involved in pretty much the whole process, from idea concept, planning, consultations, approvals, construction, etc..lots of others too though, literally all board members and a lot of past board members! It's definitely been a trip and we've learned a lot to apply moving forward on further development!
Kudos to all involved in that. My son and I rode it last week and it was incredibly impressive. I'll be making a donation to WORCA. Is the plan for With A Twist and Happy Hour to connect to anything? Didn't take either but looks like they dead end now?
we have a mapped black descent from the summit (top of Happy Hour) in the application process, in addition to RMOW currently working on the ridge route from WAT to Hanging lake, and a return off Madeley Lake trail back to north air mine site. We also have a exit from LOTS adjacent to Flank down to Industrial Waste for full blue connection, and a proposed climbing connector from Beaver Pond/Lower Sproatt to top of High Society so we can bypass stonebridge drive/flank route.
To be honest, I knew this would be extremely popular, but I'm pretty blown away at the response over the past couple of weeks, the On the Rocks strava segment users doubled since Thursday, I'd estimate the loop has seen a couple thousand people since it opened!
It's a definite destination trail now. I posted a few shots from the alpine and snow line last week and got a ton of response from people saying they're stoked to do it. I rode up Stonebridge on the weekend and saw lines of cars with racks parked along the road. I'm guessing that's the preferred route up (Darwin's to the flank to ITM)?

ITM is the climb, and we're recommending that riders only descend LOTS from the top now, instead of going up and down LOTS, as we expect it to be a lot busier with the opening this weekend. For getting to ITM/Flank I've been doing the Lower Sproatt/Ind Waste/Flank option too, a bit more efficient than going up road through Stonebridge, up tot Flank, and then back across and down to ITM.
Hmm. I've always climbed Stonebridge, but Pura Vida, ITM, and LOTS are quite a ways south on the Flank.
Are you suggesting starting the climb from Alta Lake Road by riding up the gravel road under the power lines, near Nita Lake Drive?
That could work, but if you don't want to do that and don't want to do Darwins, then I suggest Middle Danimal to Industrial Waste. Fun single track climb and not much of a climb up to Pura / LOTS / ITM.
On another note, what is Sirloin? I heard it mentioned recently.
Thanks for the replies. I take it ITM is the climb up and LOTS is the way down. Is ITM a hard / long climb? (Don't think I'll do it today as I can see and smell the smoke from here).
What is the air quality like in Whistler these days? Much smoke / haze from the fires? Also, what would be the best ascent / descent in the Sproatt network to check out some of the new stuff? I'm pretty comfortable on most trails, tech, etc. Tnx.
Is the plan to be able to ride up from Function (past Short Bus, etc.) to the top of LOTS and then descend? Or will there always be 2-way traffic on LOTS?

How's the alpine melt going on Sproat? I saw Finestone posted on instagram that TOTW was snow down to RDS recently.
Worca put an update on trailforks, open to 1600m as an out n back, lots of snow in the alpine. It snowed a lot...
Does that mean you can ride / push up LOTS to 1600m and turn around and ride down?
