was there a fromme fondo this year?  I can't see anything for results or any info on it.

I did it last year and loved it, but unfortunately was away last weekend.

thanks for the detailed reply.  I know it's always been more of a DH trail, and while I still have a DH bike I prefer to pedal up.  I know it's always been fairly difficult, but I feel like in the past I could ride about 95% of it on my trail bike.  Now it felt like 85%.  maybe it's just me getting older.

I wasn't expecting it to be dumbed down when it was sanctioned, just more curious what the overall plan is.  Especially with the climb trail as I wasn't sure exactly where that is supposed to be.  I think I know, but not sure what the purpose of it is if I'm understanding it correctly.

does anyone know what the status is with the announcements that were made last fall?  I seem to recall that they were building a climb trail and that they were going to sanction meatsweats.    I rode meatsweats this morning and it's even rougher than I remember (the top half anyway)

from the top of tall cans down, trails are clear and in great shape.   looks like patches of snow above this point so haven't ventured above yet.

new parking lot, bike wash and pop up pizza restaurant at the bottom is nice.

where does the insanity end?   does the district of north van tell people that live within the city of north van limits that they can't go to the trail head either?

Covid's been a bitch for everyone, but looking back on last year at this time, the dumbest thing going was closing trailheads and parking when the only safe activity is outdoor rec.

and yes, some trailhead and parking areas get busy, but the risk is low and as long as you're not being a covidiot, overall it's a safe activity and good for everyone's mental health.  once you are on your bike and in the trails there really isn't an issue with over crowding.

I live close to cypress, so most of the time I choose to ride there to stay close to home plus I like riding from home and not driving.  But cypress isn't a really friendly hill for kids, so I also have to travel short distances to get them their healthy dose of rides.

While I don't plan to travel far to ride, I live 30 min from squamish.  I wasn't planning to ride there over the easter weekend anyways, but I took SORCA's easter stay away msg as a little hypocritical when all the squamish insta-stars have been posting footage of their north shore rides all winter.

I'm not hucking off that rock anytime soon.  just checked out trailforks report.  I ride that ramp 3-4 times a week, can't say I noticed it was in bad shape.  seemed pretty sturdy to me.

Is it normal for trail users to take it upon themselves to rip out features?

anyone know why the ramp on wutang was taken out?

I’ve only ridden Fromme a handful of times in the last 25 years and EVERY time this is what Ive done. With a dog. And it’s been easy.

now try it with a 6 yr old.

it's neither easy, fun or particularly safe.

the NSMBA slogan is trails for all,  trails forever.  (yes we have a family membership)

the closing of the parking lot and the growing neighbourhood parking restrictions is making it harder for those that make mountain biking a family activity.

the numbers in BC are encouraging and the govt has introduced plans for opening up the province, it would be nice to know what the DNV has planned.

I've heard rumblings that the Mayor and several Counselor's of DNV are NOT in favour of Mtbing, and have an hidden agenda to stop supporting trail maintenance and funding. Dr. Bonnie Henry is promoting outdoor activities, BC government is about to open up parks. Is this an attempt from DNV to use Covid 19 to further their agenda? Seem weird that they're having more parking restrictions at this stage.

I'd prefer to think they're just being proactive before a weekend which will have the best weather of the year so far, during which lots of people will be looking to get out of their hot homes.  There are plenty of other places to park that will only add 10 - 20 minutes to a ride.

On the other hand, if I worked for BC Parks, and was noting the number of people that are knowingly ignoring park/trail closed signs, I'd be pretty unimpressed as a land manager.

it's easy for a lot of folks to say, 'who cares about the parking lot' just park further away.  And that's fine with me when I'm alone, but anyone with young kids knows that pulling a youngster up mtn hwy sucks all the fun out of the day.

It's the inconsistencies of regulations that are really frustrating through this crisis.  Closing the parking lot has pushed more people to park in surrounding neighbourhoods, which just pisses off the residents. yet you can go down mtn hwy to the save on parking lot and it's packed.  What exactly is the difference?
