I still have a combo Deville+kirk2 on my bike.

BOS had some serious problems when they started to come stock on YT bikes ; my opinion, is that such a big market was too much for a small company.

Customer service was a crap ; Since then, they recentered on european boutique market and everybody seems very happy.

BOS Stoy is still seen as reference coil rear shock.

Every time I ride my Deville RaRe, i'm impressed by how it goes thru rock gardens. The faster you go, the better it works !

If I were living in Europe, I would definitely try a deville 35mm.

Or you could also give a try to FAST FENIX ; I've been riding this shock on my knolly then retro-fity it to my RAAW Madonna ; I've never looked back !

These shorts have been around for a while now. I bought my pair in 2014 and they have been used on almost all my rides. Not a single stich came loose, material is in great condition despite several crashes, zippers still work, snap button as well, etc.

It may not be 100% made locally, but it is a fantastic piece of clothing especially made for biking. If the fit is good for you, then you’ll want to wear them all the time.

I have Ben riding with mt5 over the last 8 years, and was happy.

Tech4-V4 were on top of mylist for replacement.

Anybody had a chance to compare A4 with Hope tech4-V4 ?

They seem to be really good to !

My friends in Europe tell me some independant service centers stopped working on X2 because of the never ending problems. These guys in Switzerland explain some of the problems.

X2 still not working

I remember CC had some issues when they first released the "inline" ; they admitted there was a problem and worked hard to provide a durable fix.

Let's hope Fox is ready to do the same !

I was thinking of using a 151 with a coil shock.

It might get closer to the Arrival than my actual 1st gen Warden on the way up.

While still offering a more traditional "enduro-freeride" feel on the way down.

For a fraction of the price too ...

I tried different options, based on your suggestions, and finaly, the best option is to head to tennis court as fast as possible.

I realized it is only 20minutes ride ; I hit the bottom of climbing trail already warmed up !

Hello there,

I recently moved near the Westview shopping mall and I'm looking for a way to get to the trails from home.

Previously, I was living near Lynn Valley Library, it was an easy connection to the trails, and a good warm-up on Mtn Hwy.

I know I can still head to the tennis court on Braemar, but I am wondering if it is possible to make to the trails with less road ; maybe mosquito creek ?

I think the extra 3600 over the knolly is a no brainer.

A x01 santacruz megatower with the same hubs but alloy race face rims is 1100 more expensive at 11099$. Just putting it out there.

Is is actually a "yes-brainer" for me ! I was more looking into the 7/8k range, which seems already crazy enough for what is is.

I mean, you get a really decent car for that price. The way prices have gone up in the last few years is very frustrating.

I know it's a lot of engineering, and everything, but, in my opinion, market has gone crazy.

I also think SC bikes are way overrated.

I agree that weight doesn't impact climbing as much as people believe. I was suggesting the weight would effect other aspects of the ride. He is coming from a 27.5 bike with older geometry. On his existing bike the wheels are far lighter, have less centripetal forces and a shorter wheel base on a lighter bike. I was just thinking that trying to keep a few of those variables in check would make for an easier transition to a longer and heavier bike.

For myself, the difference between my 27.5 hardtail and my 29er is quite stark in terms of the loss of quickness in handling and manoeuvrability and they both have similar geometry. I avoid super long and heavy 29ers as they lose the part of the the ride I like best. If he is looking to go straight fast, the chicoten may be a great bike but if he likes the fun factor of his warden a heavier long travel long wheelbase 29er bike may not be as good as a slightly lighter, slightly shorter one.

I was hoping to gain a little bit on all aspects of my ride ! Am I asking too much ? lol !

Initially, I wanted to switch to chilcotin, because of my very positive experience with knolly.

And then I read, heard, watched some reviews of people mentioning it was all about going straight fast ! So I started to wonder, if maybe, there could be a better option ...

Those reviewers also mention : "If I was living on the North shore, things would be different ..." ; so it might actually still be my best bet ... Spoiled kid dilemma !

Well, it looks like I can't go really wrong with any of these three bikes. I take note that weigh is a less important factor than geometry, and a good old try out will be the best way to find out.

Anyone would come ride with me and switch bike for couple of miles ? I provide after ride beer.

Weird, I just found the Chilcotin weight at 6.61 lbs ...

It could also be without shock ...

1 lb indeed is not going to really affect my choice. In any case, I will find a way to test the bikes I'm hesitating between before pulling the trigger. I'm trying to narrow it down.

I said it before, I have been extremely pleased with my warden ; And I am planning to buy a bike for the next 6/7 years. It has been fantastically reliable.

But warden is heavy (equiped as mine, that might explain reliability), and doesn't climb very well.

Is the chilcotin a better climber than the warden ? I read the evil was a pretty good climber for this type of bike.

On the other way of the enjoying the mountain, going down, I also read that the chilcotin was all about SPEED ; I like it, but I am not a racer, and find more pleasure in finding flow on tech/steep terrain.

Are they both comparable in this domain ? I think I read that Wreckoning would be a little bit easier at low speed.

And compared to sentinel ? no opinion ? Thanks again.

Hi everyone,

After 6 years of riding on my Knolly Warden 1st gen, I'm thinking of moving to bigger wheels.

I usually ride on Fromme and Seymour mtn and always get to the top pedaling the bike.

Less frequently, I ride in Squamish or plan some epic ride, like triple crown.

I like technical terrain where the challenge is finding the flow, like Boundary, or Crippler.

My actual set-up is front and rear coil suspension, MT5, cushcore and super gravity magic marys.

I am 184cm tall and weight around 85kg, equiped with shoes, knee pads and helmet. I have looooooooooong arms.

I am just at the beginning of my rersearch, and so far, I have selected three models :

• Evil Wreckoning ;
• Knolly Chilcotin - I have been extremely satisfied with my Warden, especially reliability. It seems indestructible ;
• Transition Sentinel ;

No need to say that I'm expecting a real improvement in my riding experience with my new bike.

I'm not looking for tiny improvement, otherwise, I would not change.

Please, let me know what you think if you have some experience on some of these bikes, Thank you !
